Janine and Alain, your hosts, stopped their work in the medical field at the beginning of 2008. Since then Alain has maintained part-time work which enables him to organise his time to suit welcoming and looking after B&B guests.

Alain offers you, if you wish, guided tours of different areas in Paris in English or in Spanish. He speaks both languages fluently. Janine's level in English and Spanish is a little less advanced, but good enough to communicate.

These foreign languages have been studied and maintained by their frequent travels abroad. Additionally Janine also speaks vietnamese, her mother tongue. Janine and Alain have been Parisians for a long time (Janine has lived in France since the beginning of her studies at the university and her entire career has been based in Paris). The dwelling
The house was built in 1930. It’s architecture is beautiful; composed of a ground floor, two floors, an attic space and a garden of approximately 76 square meters at the back.

The windows of your guest bedroom open on several small gardens.

On the ground floor (garden) you will find :
- a large living room, a wall completely covered with a large library whose books have been bound by Alain himself. (Reading is his favourite hobby and you will be able to discuss various subjects with him).
- a dining room with a large glass table where 8 people can be seated
- a large kitchen opening onto the dining room where your breakfast will be prepared by Janine.
The shower room and toilets
The shower room and toilets are for the private use of the guests. This shower room is 4,5m2, completely tiled and was renovated when your hosts bought the house. It has been used for a short time only by their children or friends so it is almost new. It is lit by a window which is rare in Paris.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served between 7.30 am and 9.30 am in the dining room or in the garden when the weather is fine.

You will appreciate the quality of the fresh products offered, among which include home-made jams and cakes baked by Janine every morning. In order to make you taste the French specialities, different kinds of breads and croissants will be served every day.

Breakfast is composed of warm drinks (coffee, tea, mild, chocolate) and fruit juice.

You also have different ‘options’ to be selected the day before:
- basket full of fresh bread, baguette, toasts, with butter, jams, honey,
- different sorts of fresh croissants of the day,

corn flakes.

The main bedroom
The main bedroom N°333 is a large room of 23 square meters including a bedroom and a private living room.

This room is bright, receiving the light of the sun in the afternoon, and being far enough from the buildings nearby. Its windows open onto the garden at the back of the house. It is absolutely quiet and peaceful in the heart of Paris.

The bedroom portion (13,30 square meters) is equipped with a double bed 140X190cm (visible slats on the base plus a latex mattress 12 cm thick, another mattress can be added upon request), the bed head made by Janine is covered with Burmese silk.
They found this lovely house during a walk, felt in love with it and by chance and luck, it happened to be for sale. They have lived here for 10 years. It is a house with two floors (each of them being 50 square meters). As a guest you will be accommodated on the second floor and will be the only guests. In the past, this floor was occupied by their two sons who, when they finished their studies and created a family, left the nest. They come back very often and there is a chance you might meet them and their families.

Interested in the discovery of cultures, Janine and Alain have traveled a lot, taking their sons with them even when they were very young. Treks in the Himalaya, Asia, Latin America, Africa, holidays mixing sport and culture all around the world.
Your private floor
From the entrance, you will access your floor by a beautiful oak wooden staircase (28 steps) which ensures you a certain independence in your comings and goings.
Janine and Alain discovered the bed and breakfast style of accommodation while they were in Canada and the United States and loved the warm welcome.
The need for human relationships and meeting others in a ‘real’ way, was the reason they have decided to create this Bed and Breakfast activity and welcome hosts into their home.

Janine and Alain are one of the very rare hosts whose main consideration is the relationship and exchange with the guests. This accommodation is perfect if you want to communicate and exchange with true Parisians and spend time with them developing wonderful relationships. Ideal if you are looking for more than just a place to sleep.
Gardening is one of Janine's favourite hobbies. Various bulbs, hydrangeas, rhododendrons, camellias, glycine climbing in the lime, clematises, old rose bushes of all colours, an orange tree from Mexico, perfumed lilac, a cherry tree from Japan; all of them full of flowers in the spring. In summer and until the beginning of the fall, the hibiscus, altea, and the pink laurel are full of flowers; in winter, the yellow of the jasmines and the pink of the Vibernum or of the laurel bring some brightness to the dark season.

Guests can go into the garden when the weather is fine enough to relax (deck chairs, armchairs, parasol are at your disposal) and have a drink. You will ve certain to find Janine there, busy with the plants, cleaning the beds of flowers though she will be discrete.
The first floor is the private hosts area (bedroom, office, bathroom).
The second floor is for your use only: two bedrooms to accommodate up to four people from the same family or group and a en-suite shower-room and toilets.
Access to the B&B:
Numerous buses will take you to the Montparnasse, the Luxembourg Garden and Latin Quarter, to the banks of the Seine and the Institute of the Arabic World, to Saint-Germain des Prés, the Louvre museum, the Tuileries, Opera and the department stores. All within 10 minutes.
The subway is convenient as well (Convention and Plaisance stations are the nearby stations) and the tramway on the Boulevards des Maréchaux, all these stations being less then 6 minutes walk from home.
Thanks to sound insulation (double glass windows) and the location over the garden you will sleep perfectly well in this quiet room. Doubled curtains of warm colours match with the bedding (home made) and contribute to the peaceful atmosphere of this room. You are likely to sleep like a baby until you are awaked by the singing of the birds.

The room is always decorated with bunches of dried flowers made by Janine. A modern carpet (synthetic fibres) covers the oak wooden floor. A large modern painting (a gift offered by a painter friend of theirs) and pictures from the travels of their older son (photography being one of his passions) framed by Janine, all decorate the walls of the bedroom as well as the corridor which leads to the shower room.
The second bedroom
On the same level, a second bedroom No.334 made up of 15 square meters is at your disposal if you travel with 3 or 4 people.

It offers a large single bed 120X190 cm (visible slats on the base plus a latex mattress 12 cm thick), covered by a thick quilt with Indian materials, a large wardrobe (1,92 m) which can be used by the guests in the main bedroom if they need more space for their clothes, shelves and a large mirror, a modern armchair from Roche et Bobois and cashmere silk carpet. A large ‘baroque’ mirror hangs above the chimney.

The window (with double glass and double curtains) opens onto the street which is very quiet. View the photo album for more images of both rooms.shapeimage_33_link_0
For an additional cost of 5 euros per person, you can ask your host for ham, cheese and eggs.

You will have breakfast outside under the lilac flowers in spring or a little later in the season and in the autumn season under the falling branches covered with flowers of the old rose trees. You will appreciate the freshness of the garden during the hot summer days having a cold drink. Two big limes completed this pastoral frame set.

Old books market at Parc Brassens (on Saturdays and Sundays all day): 3min walk
Parc Brassens (for families); lots of joggers, lively in summer, music, dances etc.
Open air market on Fridays afternoons
La Ruche (Craftsmen workshops)
Lots of houses with garden and Virginia creeper, facades covered with flowers, mainly Villa Santos Dumont where artists and actors live or have lived (very close to the B&B).
