Julie was born in a little village near Auvers-sur-Oise. She came to Paris in 2003 to study the history of art. Alexandre is Parisian born. He is part of the true ‘Montmartrois’, the inhabitants of this area of Paris which has kept it’s soul and true village way of life. He has been living in this building since he was born.

Julie and Alexandre love their area and love to stroll along the narrow streets, open the door and discover a new restaurant or experience some local entertainment, or just have a drink with friends. Alexandre also like to share his knowledge of this highly historical area of Paris; information that you could not find on a guide book. The dwelling
This area of Paris, made even more famous since the movie ‘Amélie’ in 2006, is where your B&B is located with a view on Abbesses Square.

The apartment is on the second floor without elevator. It benefits from a southern orientation which gives it much day light and sun.
The bathroom
The bathroom is to share with your hosts, but you will always have priority access to it and cleaning will be carried out every day.

The bathroom is pleasant and largely filled with day light (rare in Paris) thanks to a large window. It is equipped with a sink, a bath with a shower head, a radiator to dry your towels and some shelves, one of which is for your use only. Towels, bath products and a hair dryer will be put at your disposal.

The room is decorated in the same spirit as the rest of the apartment. It has a southern and soft atmosphere with tiles on the ground, and a mural tile decoration made in Italy. Toilets are located in the bathroom.

Your bedroom
The bedroom which is offered to you is very bright. It has a large window and high ceiling which makes this room, which is 11 square meters, look and feel larger.

When this room was under renovation, Julie and Alexandre wanted to minimise its environmental impact and make it functional and relaxing. They choose natural colours and used toxic-free paintings. They arranged it with only one concern notion in mind; that their guests feel at home and can relax in complete peace.

The bedroom offers a double bed (140x190cm), an auxiliary desk, a closet and rack, a chair and a stool. The bed is prepared with covers, blankets and anti-allergenic pillows.
The ground is made of a jatoba wooden floor. It is covered with a comfortable wool rug which can be removed if you suffer from allergies.
Your hosts area
Located in the heart of Montmartre, Julie and Alexandre welcome you to a place with an uncommon history. The building where you will stay was built in the 18th century. It is sober, without any particular architecture, but it hides a unique story and history. In the past it was a property that belonged to the Abbesses of the Church Saint Jean de Montmartre on Abbesses Square. It is divided in three levels. The first floor was the living part of the community of the Abbesses (kitchens, dining rooms). The second floor was designed to be the praying rooms. Last, the third floor was for the dormitories of the Abbesses.

The building has belonged to Alexandre's family for 130 years. It was in 1880 that the grand uncle of Alexandre's grand father, an Italian immigrant, decided to leave Italy for France to find a job. The family settled in the North of the capital, in the small village of Montmartre. Very crowded at that time, it was the place where well-known artists begun to occupy the area. Nowadays, this area is very fashionable for Parisians and tourists. Lots of food shops have been replaced by luxury clothes shops, beautiful small cafes, bars and more.

The family has been the witness to many changes to this area and Alexandre will be happy to tell you all about them during the evening or at breakfast.

Both Julie and Alexandre love to go out for entertainment, exhibitions, concerts and more. They are lucky to have friends in the artistic field, it gives them the opportunity of having a better view on the cultural life in Paris which they will share with you if you wish.

Their hobbies include a love for cooking, wine tasting, travelling, exchanging views with other people. Alexandre is a fine connoisseur and when he completed his studies in the business field, his passion led him to Bordeaux where he studied wine and alcohol appreciation. Since then Alexandre has been working in a cellar in Paris and he will be pleased to welcome you there if you wish to purchase good wines to take back home.
Julie is still studying, specialising in psychology.

In 2006, they did a tour of Australia for one year. What they like best during their travel was being inside a culture and sharing the life of the people of the country.
Its window opens onto a quiet street, insulated with efficient double glazing, which guarantees you a good nights rest, even being in the heart of one of the most popular tourist centres in Paris.

You will find in the bedroom all the necessary equipment to prepare warm drinks: tea, instant coffee, herbal teas.

You hosts will put at your disposal maps and tourist books (updated), and lots of information and addresses to make your stay as comfortable as possible and so you can benefit as much as possible of the area.

Its style is somewhere between a modern home (with large open spaces and a high ceiling) and a country house (visible beams, tiles, floor made of exotic wood). Your hosts, most welcoming, offer you their living room anytime which leads on to your guest room. Guests have access to rest in the living room only when Julie and Alexandre are home and invite you to join them.
It was renovated in 2002 with the assistance of an architect.

Your hosts wanted to make their bed and breakfast and home, a space of living offering quietness and serenity together with modern comfort.
What Julie and Alexandre love best about Paris is its history, its architecture, the gardens, the special atmosphere of the city, the diversity offered by its different areas as well as shops and numerous cafes and restaurants

Both your hosts speak English and Spanish.

Alexandre speaks advanced English thanks to different travels though mainly through his stay in Australia.

Julie speaks English as she has traveled several times to England (Cambridge and London) and in the US (Washington, Norfolk, Baltimore, Philadelphia). As far as Spanish goes; despite her extensive studies and regular cultural stays in Spain (Barcelona, Madrid, Murcia, Alicante) only the basis of grammar and vocabulary remain.
