About the Apartment

Welcome to your luxury home in Paris. A quintessential exclusive and historic home right by the river the Seine, on rue Seguier, boasting Saint Chapelle, Louvre and Notre Dame views from its windows. In a few seconds walk you will find yourself at the Seine banks and with the luxury of walking in any direction in Paris to explore everything on foot, St-Germain-des-Pres, the Latin Quarter, the Iles de Paris or the right bank Louvre, Tuileries and even to the Marais neighbourhood.

The flat is located in the 6th district, on the 3rd floor of a 17th century building on the Seine which has been completely restored. The building was originally a private family mansion. Even today it is maintained in much the same manner by my family and the only two other couples who share the building. This arrangement makes the building very quiet, secure and private. allowing antiques and engraving to line the circular stairway. There are approximately 70 steps with three landings spiralling up from the court yard with antiques and engraving lining the circular stairwell. There is no elevator.

The apartment offers 90 square meters of living space with two bedrooms, a comfortable renovated bathroom, a large beautiful living and dining area and a modern fully equipped kitchen. All windows in the flat have a view of St. Chapelle, and just off the living room is a work table or writing desk with a view of the Palais de Justice and St. Chapelle looking out across the Seine.

The apartment is sunny and bright with modern and antique furnishing throughout including the original hand made brick floor, original oak ceiling beams and restored linen covered walls. It has been newly decorated throughout with 18th and 19th century prints and modern double paned windows in a style to mimic the original windows and which eliminate the occasional street noise.

The bathroom has a teak and glass shower, warm wooden floor, wall mounted toilet and stone sink for easy cleaning and in additional to the mirror above the sink, a full length mirror. The bathroom walls are covered with elegant and striking hand made tiles from the south of France.

The building is located on a very quiet, safe little street which pours a few feet away offering views in one direction of the Louvre and the other Notre Dame.

It is a pleasant walk to many famous destinations such as Notre Dame, The Louvre, Centre Pompidou, Quartier Latin, Saint Sulpice Church, Jardin du Luxembourg, Musée d’Orsay, Invalides, Concorde, Madeleine, Grand Palais, Champs Elysées - and of course the walking paths along the Seine River going toward Jardin de Plants and the Natural History Museum and Zoo.

It is in very close proximity to two main subway stations: Saint Michel and Odeon which also provide direct access by rail to Versailles , Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports. Numerous bus lines can be found nearly to take you conveniently all over Paris.

You can call all over France and certain other countries for free (except for cell phones [any number starting with 06 in France] and numbers starting with 08 for which there is a charge) from the telephone in the apartment, and there is a WIFI connection if you are traveling with your computer

About the neighbourhood

The building is located on a very quiet, safe little street which pours a few feet away offering views in one direction of the Louvre and the other Notre Dame. The 6eme, St Germain des Pres/Latin Quartier is one the most central part sof Paris, not to mention one of the most prestigious; sitting directly across the Seine River, this upscale residential neighbourhood lined with the most expensive real estate in Paris, is the very heart of Paris. Within minutes walk over the beautiful bridges you can reach either the right bank of Paris - and so the entire city is at your easy reach on foot.

Despite being in the heart of the city the street is peaceful, tranquil, a little oasis. Though it does also come very conveniently and idyllically with its own beautiful bustle of nearby village life with numerous cafes, bars, restaurants, boulangeries etc to enjoy.

The Notre Dame Cathedral on the Ile de la Cite (the island in front of Ile Saint Louis) is a short 5 minute walk and the church bells are the only soothing sounds you will hear during your tranquil stay in our home here. Sainte Chapelle is also on the Ile Cite and a must-see (try one of the free daily recitals for an extraordinary spine-tingling performance).

From your home you can walk to all sights on the left bank; the bustling Odeon area with its museums, the famous St Michel nightlife, the famous Shakespeare and Co bookshop is also within minutes. St Germain des Pres and its iconic cafes is an easy stroll from here too.

Crossing to the right bank you immediately in the Marais neighbourhood another historic trendy area known for its numerous restaurants and bars and it is known as the boutique shopping district as well as the Jewish quarter. The Place des Vosges is here, the Picasso Museum, Musee Carnavalet, The Hotel de Ville, centre Pompidou and an extra few minutes walk will reach the Louvre, Tuileries jardin and so much more.

There is no more central and convenient location in all of Paris. But if you wish to visit the further parts of the city (eg Montmartre) the metro and buses are also close-by accessible a few minutes walk.

“We were very happy to stay at Delphine's place in Paris. The location  was excellent and could not have been any better for  us.  The apartment was great. An older charming Paris apartment in a eautiful older building right on the Seine. Perfect! Delphine was great in responding to our questions and needs. When there was a problem with the TV she was right on it to fix it immediately. We had a fantastic time  and I was happy to renew visiting my old haunts from the past. All in all the experience was wonderful. You made it easy for me with your concern and keeping in touch. We would definitely use Delphine again for our next trip to Paris and would use your service and recommend it to anyone we know who is thinking of renting an apartment in Paris. Thanks again for your help  in placing us there”.

“Our family (2 adults and 2 pre-teens) stayed in this lovely apartment. It allowed our children to experience what it would be like to live in Paris as opposed to staying in a tourist hotel. There are many shops and restaurants nearby and it was convenient to all the attractions. You are less than a block to the Seine and can see Notre Dame from the apartment windows. There is a metro stop about 2 blocks away. The only warning I would give potential visitors is that this is the top apartment in the building and it is a hefty climb up the stairs. This would definitely not be suitable for anyone with walking or climbing restrictions. Delphine was lovely to work with and was very helpful. Highly recommend”
